Collaborations

Capital Basketball are champions of a collaborative approach to tackle the nationwide problem of a drop off in physical activity. Although participation and interest in basketball has seen considerable growth in the last five years, Capital Basketball believes it is our duty to work with other sporting codes to promote a love for movement - regardless of code. Part of this approach is to discourage specialisation and encourage a collective approach to increasing levels of physical activity across our whole sporting community.

Furthermore we have partnered with various organisations who serve our basketball community. From Special Olympics, to Halberg (wheelchair basketball) and recently Deaf Basketball in bringing to life the first Trans Tasman Clash between the Australian Mens Goanna’s and the New Zealand Black Thunder in 2022 and recently the hosting of Lavar Ball, father of Melo, Zo and Gelo who recently crossed our shores to inspire and host clinics for the next generation of ballers from Aotearoa.

Trans Tasman Clash 2022

After a 3 year hiatus, we were privileged to host and reignite our trans-tasman rivalry by enabling our National Deaf Basketball team to take on Australia at The Nash in Lower Hutt in 2022.
