Formal Coaching Levels run by Capital Basketball include:
Community Coach (FIBA Level 1)
- The Basketball NZ Community Course is the FIBA WABC LEVEL 1 equivalent and is for coaches who coach secondary school players (ages 13 to 18), representative and adult players in clubs and associations. This level accreditation is the new minimum requirement for coaches wanting to coach at BBNZ rep tournaments. This level aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the role of a coach, player skill requirements and team requirements.
Kiwi Hoops Coach (coaches of 5-12 year old players)
- This level is for coaches of primary school age players (ages 5 to 13) in schools, clubs and associations. It is a fun user friendly introduction to basic coaching with a focus on helping to provide fun and participation for young players. The aim of this level is to keep the role of the coach as simple and easy as possible, providing coaches with a positive sporting experience.
